The Matrix Is a Trans Allegory

Why The Matrix is the perfect trans allegory

What it means

A split-screen video shows a close-up of Keanu Reeves as Neo above clips of him running, leaping, falling, and flying between skyscrapers in The Matrix. The caption humorously presents the film as the perfect transgender allegory, turning Neo’s dramatic escape from a controlled reality into an exaggerated reaction meme. The clip is set to “Free your mind” by sterzhen, an electronic track whose driving, liberating mood amplifies the joke and the footage’s sense of transformation.
