Internet Users in Plato's Cave
literally just outside guy who logs off increasingly insane and extreme positions random internet users expressing their idiosyncratic beliefs algorithms internet users
An allegorical cave scene shows internet users trapped underground while algorithms and increasingly extreme opinions surround them. A person who logs off is depicted standing outside in the normal world. The joke compares online echo chambers and radicalization to Plato’s cave, and is used as a reaction to bizarre internet discourse.
