Linux Outlives Unix Rivals
1991 SCO Unix SunOS AIX Linux Unixware Solaris HP-UX 2021 Linux
A comic compares the Unix-like operating systems present in 1991 with the situation in 2021. In the first panel, Linux walks alongside several other systems; in the second, only Linux remains among the gravestones. The joke is that Linux outlasted or outlived many of its historical Unix competitors, so it is shared as a humorous reaction about longevity and survival in technology.
