Doom
GFP output of cells for the first frame of Doom, 4000x speed 8.33 hrs/frame * 35 frames/min * 60 min/hr * 5 hrs/day * 365 days/year
EN: The video shows a scientific demonstration: a DOOM frame is reduced to a tiny black-and-white matrix, converted into signals for genetically modified E. coli cells, and displayed through their fluorescence. The final calculation emphasizes the absurdly low frame rate—one frame takes hours, so completing DOOM on bacteria would take hundreds of years. The joke comes from turning a gaming setup into a painfully slow biological computer through mock-serious scientific explanation.
of doom, I first need to take the frames of doom and compress them down to a 32 by 48 array the same size as our micro well plate. After this I use thresholding to determine which pixels are on and which are off in the binary display system. I then take this on off array and use it as an input to determine which of our simulated cells receive the inducer AHL. The result is simulated cells that fluoresce in the same indices as the compressed doom frame. Simulating the system over time, I find that it takes approximately 70 minutes to achieve peak image display and 8.3 hours total to return to the off-state and then load the next frame. With this simulation, I am able to calculate approximately
