Sony BMG Rootkit Uninstaller
Sony BMG initially denied that the rootkits were harmful. It then released an uninstaller for one of the programs that merely made the program's files invisible while also installing additional software that could not be easily removed, collected an email address from the user and introduced further security vulnerabilities.
A dark screenshot-style joke describes Sony BMG denying that its copy-protection rootkits were harmful, then releasing an “uninstaller” that caused even more problems, including installing unwanted software, collecting an email address, and creating security vulnerabilities. The punchline is the absurd irony that the supposed fix behaved like additional malware, making this useful as a reaction to a dangerously incompetent solution.
