Load Bearing Mac Mini
12 years ago, Twitter’s office used a Mac Mini to tunnel into the servers. One day, an IT guy found it in the closet. “Anyone know who owns this?” “Unplug it. Someone will show up.” Everyone lost access to servers. Huge crisis. It became known as the “Load Bearing Mac Mini.”
A fictional Twitter anecdote describes an IT worker finding a Mac Mini hidden in a closet and unplugging it, causing everyone to lose access to the servers. The punchline is that the seemingly insignificant computer was secretly essential infrastructure, making it a humorous reaction to an object that looks unimportant but cannot be removed.
