SAS Russia Layoff Email

Dear colleagues: A few weeks ago, I wrote to you to let you know that although we had suspended operations in Russia, we were able to continue paying you in a leave status. Thank you all for your cooperation in that effort. While the operations are still suspended, recent developments have made it even more difficult to support paid leaves. On Friday you heard from local HR and Legal that we are left with only one devastating choice, which is to separate you from employment, effective April 11. Please know that we tried everything to sustain these paid leaves for as long as we could. No words can express our gratitude to you. These were hard decisions, and we know that there are people affected by these decisions. These people are you - our Russian employees and contractors – also our friends and valuable colleagues with whom we have worked side-by-side. It is my sincere hope that you are able to find subsequent employment. If we are able to resume operations after this suspension, we will most certainly reach out to you. Our hearts are with you and your families. Pat ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ Patricia L. A screenshot of a formal email from SAS executive Patricia L. Brown informing Russian employees and contractors that their paid leave will end and they will be separated from employment effective April 11. The joke comes from the painfully polished corporate language used to deliver devastating news, including phrases like “devastating choice” and “our hearts are with you.” EN: A screenshot of a formal email from SAS executive Patricia L.
