GitHub Repository Vacation Mode
Link to project you maintain: https://github.com/mrdoob/three.js/ Problem you're facing: After 10 years of daily maintenance I really feel like taking a week off. But I can't do that because the number of notifications I'll have to deal with when I'm back would be exorbitant. I would like to be able to put a repo in vacation mode. In that mode people won't be able to create/comment/close issues/PRs or comment on commits (anything that creates a notification). Although collaborators would be able to commit. Not only this would help maintainers personal mental health, but it will also bring some humanity into open source and make people be more aware that there is a real person behind these projects. Ideally one could also set this so weekends are in vacation mode too.
A GitHub issue proposes a vacation mode for repositories after a maintainer has spent ten years handling daily notifications. The joke is that taking even a short break would create an overwhelming backlog, so the maintainer wants to pause notifications while still allowing collaborators to commit. It is a relatable reaction for open-source maintainers dealing with burnout and endless issue activity.
