The Forgotten Pendown
So my 8yo son wanted to learn programming. He fiddle[d] around with LOGO when suddenly he started swearing like never before... Tech .. I went over to him trying to calm him down and figure out what was wrong. He shouted at the screen that "this damn turtle won't draw what he told it to". At this moment he went completely silent starring at his code. Then he performed his first genuine face palm stating that he forgot to put the "pendown". Yes dear son, this is how programmers feel literally every day. Congratulations, it's a programmer!
A Reddit-style screenshot tells a story about an eight-year-old learning the LOGO programming language. He becomes frustrated because the turtle will not draw, then realizes he forgot the “pendown” command and facepalms. The joke compares a beginner’s tiny programming mistake with the daily frustration programmers experience, followed by a congratulatory comment declaring him a real programmer.
