Forgetting sudo in Vim
forgetting to add `sudo` to `vim /etc/hosts`, then being made to :q! so you can re-edit as sudo is the closest thing you experience as an adult to being told by a teacher as a child to leave the room and come back in once you've knocked properly
A developer describes forgetting to open `/etc/hosts` with sudo in Vim, being forced to quit, and reopening the file with elevated privileges. The joke compares this adult programming frustration to a child being sent out of a classroom and told to knock before coming back in.
