Everyone Means Everyone
Thanks! This have haunted me for some time. My local installation is in Swedish so the user parameter should be: 'user=alla'. Wow, that was interesting. I had it originally in spanish with a language pack, but I didn't see that coming :) – I have my windows in english and I am getting the same error. And for french windows users use this: user="Tout le monde" In portuguese is also user=todos In russian: user=все in Dutch it's user=iedereen in Polish: user=Wszyscy in Danish user=alle In spanish is also "user=todos" (as in portuguese) Just had this issue - in my case, it was that I got the case of the username wrong, using DOMAIN\Username rather than DOMAIN\username. in Swedish: user=alla in french user=tous In German: user=Jeder Hungarian user=mindenki In Finnish: user=kaikki in Norwegian: user=alle Quick way to just make this work without knowing much else is to set the domain to Everyone and Host to '+': netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8282/ user=Everyone listen=yes
A screenshot of a forum discussion about configuring a Windows URL reservation, with users listing the word for “everyone” in different languages and sharing localized values for the user parameter. The joke is that a simple technical problem turns into an international catalog of translations, while the final comment gives a universal workaround using “Everyone.”
