A retro 1996 news segment enthusiastically presents the Nintendo 64, showing a customer, the console, Mario gameplay, a $25 Toys “R” Us prepayment, and a reporter warning that units may sell out before Christmas. The joke comes from treating ordinary Nintendo 64 hype and limited availability like an urgent historical emergency, with dramatic captions and increasingly urgent delivery. It works as a reaction to intense consumer hype, nostalgia, or rushing to buy something before it sells out. And he's simply amazed by the things this new $200 game system can do. Get out there fella. Alright, we made it. Most systems on the market today are 32-bit. This is 64. In short, Nintendo took the power of a $100,000 computer and put it into an affordable home game machine. Hundreds of people prepaid Toys R Us $25 to make sure they get a system out of the first shipment on Sunday. But what if you want one for Christmas? are doing now as the closer you get to Christmas the less likely it will be that we will have the units in stock.
