The Electrical Loophole Around God
this means that we cannot turn on and off lights
A woman presents a purple Kosher Innovations lamp, then the video cuts to a mustached man in an American-flag headband explaining an electrical panel and household wiring. He jokes that using the lamp as a religious loophole is no different from simply flipping a light switch, because God still knows what you are doing. The deadpan spoken explanation and increasingly absurd close-ups make the punchline work as a sarcastic reaction to contrived loopholes.
means that we cannot turn on and off lights, but we can benefit if the light is already on. Kosher Innovations created... Well, how do you do Orthodox Jews? I'm not here to sell you a lamp that's a disgusting loophole around the rules of your religion, like Miriam here is, but instead I'll teach you a greasy loophole around your religion. So, inside the American Electrical Panel, don't open your electrical panel. We have two wires at the top. We got the red one, we got the black one. Each one of those is separately providing 120 volts. There are some circuits that use the combined 240 volts, usually large appliances. That's not important, but the power is constantly on. It's constantly being cycled through your house at 120 volts. Whatever isn't used is being sent back out through the neutral wire. It's a big wire wire up there at the top. I'm not gonna touch anything. You get what I'm saying? The power is constantly on. Now, you could buy Miriam's lamp by Kosher Innovations as your little loophole, or you could do what everybody who's not an Orthodox Jew does when they want to access the constant power in their house and flip a fucking light switch. It's the same shit. God knows what you're doing. He knows what you're doing. You haven't found a loophole around God.
