One-Star Baking Review
My new hobby is to read 1 star reviews of popular baking recipes. People fundamentally don’t understand how baking works if they think you can substitute butter and sugar and still get something edible. My eight year old My eight year old son has been asking me for chocolate chip cookies forever but to me it's unthinkable to make any recipe that calls for 1 cup of butter (!!) and 1 cup of sugar (!!). Okay, I know this is America... but is there a way to make this without putting the child in a sugar/fat coma? I could just leave the sugar out since chocolate chips have so much sugar in them, but what about the butter, how can I substitute it? Please, don't say, use oil (I've seen it in other recipes). Thank you. Read less
A screenshot shows a tweet about reading one-star reviews of baking recipes, followed by a customer review of a chocolate-chip-cookie recipe. The reviewer worries that one cup each of butter and sugar will cause a sugar/fat coma and asks how to replace the butter, while refusing to use oil. The joke is that the reviewer fundamentally misunderstands the role of basic baking ingredients.
