Cotton Bouquet Prom Proposal

Text on the meme

About to ask a black girl to prom. Wish me luck

What it means

Someone holds a bouquet made from cotton bolls while saying he is about to ask a Black girl to prom. The joke relies on the racist historical association between Black people and cotton, making the bouquet an offensively awkward choice as a prom invitation. It is used as an edgy reaction meme about an insensitive or disastrously misguided romantic gesture.
