Childhood Memory in Wood Man Stage
??? Mega Man 2 - Is it REALLY a 10/10? (The 35 Year Review)
Gameplay from Mega Man 2’s Wood Man stage shows the character navigating ladders and moving platforms while fighting enemies, with a brief crossover-like appearance of Donkey Kong. The deadpan gameplay is paired with an unexpectedly intimate narration about the speaker remembering his divorced parents and seeing his mother kiss his brother’s father at this exact point in the level, making an ordinary game screen absurdly emotionally significant. I spent so much time with this game that I even have other memories that are anchored to certain points in certain stages. My parents were divorced by the time I was two years old and I had never seen my mom kiss a man before until one day when I saw her kiss my brother's dad right at this very point in the woodman stage and I still remember it every time I passed through this screen today.
