Sexual Identity Pool Party Rant
WHY ARE PEOPLE SO OBSESSED WITH SEXUAL IDENTITY MAKING AN IDENTITY ABOUT IT I'VE BEEN TO POVERTY STRICKEN ZONES A FORM OF PRIVILEGE? FOR YOUR SEXUAL IDENTIFICATION IS NOT BEING PHOBIC OF THEM A METHOD PEOPLE USE
A curly-haired woman in a black dress speaks directly to the camera while holding a small microphone, moving between a garden, poolside, and indoor setting. She questions why people make sexual identity central to their identity, compares it with poverty-stricken regions, and argues that asking questions is not phobic; the humor comes from her provocative, self-serious rant and the oddly relaxed pool-party framing. The clip uses the song “Life, Ambience, Peace” by Beats by Lucky, whose gentle ambient mood contrasts with the contentious monologue. Why are people so obsessed with sexual identity? Like if you're gay or lesbian? Cool. Whatever. Honestly, I don't care. But why are you making an identity about it? Are you bored? Can we not just have a pool party instead? If I began talking about how straight I am, would that be weird? Yes, it would. This is the part where you may get mad at me. I've been to poverty-stricken zones in many different countries, and no one there has a luxury to be oversaturated in sexual identity. The sexual identity of form of privilege? The irony is that people who talk non-stop about their sexual identity would call me privilege for being white. But sitting around and demanding attention for your sexual identification sounds a bit privilege to me. Is it something bored humans do? And before the phobic comments roll out, asking if someone's bored is not being phobic of them. Actually, questions imply curiosity, and fear expels curiosity. So the ad hominem fallacy, a method people use to discredit a thought by attacking the character of a person who voices that thought will not work here. Apologies.
