A hand pulls a long, dark, rough object from shallow muddy water and reveals it as an oddly flower-like stick or root. The caption insists it is “Just a stick,” while the rose emoji and romantic Carpenters song “(They Long To Be) Close To You” make the mundane discovery absurdly sentimental. It works as a reaction to pretending something strange or unimpressive is beautiful and meaningful.
