The Future Was Stolen From Us
future that was stolen from us TDK STACKABLE CD CASES
A nostalgic video montage shows a supermarket with a sky-like ceiling, retro computers and electronics, a portable CD player, a glowing indoor water path, a futuristic children’s computer, fish swimming through a ceiling installation, and stackable CD cases. The caption “future that was stolen from us” humorously frames forgotten late-1990s and early-2000s technology and overly futuristic interior design as a lost vision of the future. The montage is set to Che Mac’s “WINDOWS 95,” whose dreamy nostalgic electronic mood makes the joke feel wistful and cinematic.
