Sushi to Take the Edge Off

Text on the meme

a lil something to take the edge off

What it means

A man dips a sushi roll into a small cup of dark liquid beside a sidewalk construction barricade, then eats it with a serious, unimpressed expression. The joke is the literal interpretation of “take the edge off”: instead of having a drink or relaxing, he uses something associated with a sharp edge and bizarrely snacks during roadwork. Saxophone-led music gives the clip a laid-back, absurdly dramatic reaction-video feel.
