This is how a dishwasher works

What it means

Several cats climb and tumble around inside an open dishwasher, pawing at plates and the racks as if they are washing the dishes. The joke treats the cats’ chaotic movement as the real mechanism of a dishwasher, while Laurindo Almeida’s gentle bossa nova–influenced instrumental recording “The Lamp Is Low” makes the absurd scene feel oddly elegant and instructional.
