The Harbour Box That Stayed Yellow
Let me show you something Let’s see another harbor And when I was young and stupid to make the job easier Spilling yellow paint And... Just this one (as far as I’ve searched) Ok bye!
A bearded man explains how he accidentally spilled yellow paint on a grey box at his hometown harbour and simply painted the whole box yellow. Years later, the box is still painted yellow because the accidental fix became an unexplained local tradition, making the story absurdly self-perpetuating. Let me show you something. This is a normal harbour in Iceland. And as you can see, the edge line is painted yellow and the box is grey. Let's see another harbour. Yellow line, grey box. And one more for good measure. Yellow line, grey box. And when I was young and stupid, I was hired by my hometown harbour to paint one of those lines yellow. And because I was young and stupid, I did everything I could to make the job easier. Like putting the paint can on the box while I was painting. And as you would expect, I bumped into the paint can spilling yellow paint all over the grey box. So again, me being very stupid, I just painted the box yellow, thinking nobody's gonna notice. And here's that box today. Yes, yes, they keep painting it yellow. And as I showed you at the start, it's not every hardware that does this. Just this one. And it's actually been so long that they probably don't even know why they paint the box as yellow. It's just something they do now. Um, okay, bye!
