The Space Antihero Craving Cigarettes
The first Japanese person to be sent to space was Toyohiro Akiyama. Known as "The Space Antihero", Akiyama was not a trained astronaut, scientist nor engineer and spent his time in space craving cigarettes.
A portrait of Toyohiro Akiyama in a spacesuit appears beneath text explaining that he was the first Japanese person sent to space and spent his time there craving cigarettes. The joke is that this supposedly historic astronaut is presented as an untrained “Space Antihero” whose main concern was smoking, making him an absurdly unheroic space traveler.
