Maldives Entry Ban Backfires Hard
MALDIVES ENTRY BAN BACKFIRES HARD Two weeks after the Maldives announced a ban on Israeli nationals entering the Islamic country, the government's legal advisor stated there are challenges in passing the legislation. Specifically, 2 million Israeli Arabs, referred to as Palestinians, hold Israeli citizenship. The Maldives clarified that they do not aim to ban Arab, Muslim, or Christian Israelis, but rather target one specific group: Jews.
A screenshot of a political post appears above a bright photo of luxurious overwater villas in the Maldives. The joke is that a proposed ban on Israeli nationals would be difficult to enforce because many Israeli Arabs, including Muslims and Christians, hold Israeli citizenship; the post sarcastically highlights that the policy ultimately targets Jews. It is used as a reaction to criticize the contradiction or antisemitic implications of the proposed ban.
