Madagascar Penguins Speak German
"Madagascar" (2005): 1. The film is set in the present, but when penguins think they have reached Antarctica, they ask, in German, "sprechen Sie Englisch"; they presume the occupants of Antarctica to be German. There is no elaboration on why in the film.
A still from Madagascar shows four penguins in grass beside a black-and-white photograph of Antarctic explorers. The joke points out that the penguins speak German when they reach Antarctica, humorously connecting this unexplained detail to the explorers’ apparent German identity. It is shared as a reaction to an absurd plot detail or an overanalyzed movie continuity issue.
