Cambridge meritocracy irony thread
Nathan Cofnas, a fellow at the University of Cambridge has claimed that ‘Blacks would disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment’ in a meritocracy. Cambridge uni has not commented on whether it is investigating him according to reports In full he wrote- ‘In a meritocracy, Harvard faculty would be recruited from the best of the best students, which means the number of black professors would approach 0%. Blacks would disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment.’ He also wrote, ‘The stereotype that Jews are rich or Jamaicans are good sprinters reflects statistical realities about the distribution of money & fast-twitch muscle fiber, & it is not based entirely on irrational prejudice.’
A screenshot of a three-post social media thread reports controversial statements attributed to Nathan Cofnas, alongside photos of a man and Cambridge University. The joke comes from the thread’s sarcastic presentation: the claims about “meritocracy” and stereotypes are shown as self-incriminating examples of racist reasoning, making the alleged academic argument look absurd and provocative. It is shared as a reaction to hypocrisy, academic racism, or offensive online discourse.
