Practicing for the Big Day

ME PRACTICING FOR MY BIG DAY

What it means

A man in black athletic clothes performs an increasingly intense, awkward dance routine on a small stage beside hanging red straps, speakers, and exercise equipment. The caption frames his exaggerated moves as practice for an important event, making the clip funny through the contrast between his serious performance and the soulful, hopeful mood of Otis Redding’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.” It works as a reaction meme for overconfident preparation or dramatically rehearsing for a major moment.
