Smiling at My Phone

Text on the meme

me: *smiling at my phone* my family why is she smiling? what's in the phone? bf? me

What it means

A woman happily smiles at her phone, then her family questions why she is smiling and asks what is on the screen, even suggesting it might be her boyfriend. The phone reveals an intense first-person action-game scene, making the punchline that her mysterious smile comes from watching chaotic gameplay rather than romantic messages. She then dives back into the phone and disappears from the couch, while Ellie Goulding & Speed Radio’s sped-up electropop song “Lights (Sped Up Version)” adds energetic, dreamy momentum and heightens the absurd reaction.
