The Stream Was Black

What it means

A video shows a streaming-service feedback form where the unhappy reaction is selected, the issue menu opens, and “Stream was black” is chosen before the feedback is submitted. The joke is the bluntly literal complaint about a completely unusable stream, presented with deadpan interface language. Laura Shigihara’s “Watery Graves (In-Game)” plays underneath, adding a subdued, game-like melancholy that makes the black-screen complaint feel dramatically tragic and absurd. It works as a reaction to a stream that failed completely or showed nothing but darkness.
