What it means

A cinema seat-selection screen shows a cluster of seats booked around one unselected seat, while the caption says, “we're going to surprise this guy.” The joke is that someone is secretly arranging for a whole group to surround an unsuspecting person at the movie theater. It is used as an absurd reaction to plans to ambush, overwhelm, or awkwardly surprise someone.
