Lewis and Clark See the Future

Text on the meme

imagine what we can do with this land, lewis i can almost see it now, clark

What it means

Lewis and Clark admire a beautiful untouched landscape in the first panel, then appear in the same place overlooking a sprawling commercial strip filled with fast-food restaurants, gas stations, and traffic. The joke is that their grand vision for the land has become modern suburban development and consumerism, making this a reaction to overdevelopment or ruined natural beauty.
