A windswept grassy field stretches into the distance beneath the caption “Works Cited.” The joke is that field researchers humorously present the entire field as their bibliography, mocking overly minimal or absurd academic citations. It is sent as a reaction to a vague, unsubstantiated, or comically under-researched claim.
