Akira Toriyama and Mexican Cartels

Text on the meme

AKIRA TORIYAMA APRIL 1955 - MARCH 2024 Mexican cartels

What it means

A tribute card for Akira Toriyama, shown smiling in front of Dragon Ball artwork, is paired with a rapidly changing clip of a suited man holding a gun to his head and collapsing. The joke contrasts Toriyama’s cheerful legacy with the exaggerated despair supposedly caused by Mexican cartels, turning a memorial image into a dark reaction meme. The video uses Brand X Music’s “Faithful Fate,” whose dramatic, mournful music heightens the mock-tragic effect.
