Thank You for Being My Capybara Friend

Text on the meme

Thank you for being my capybara friend, Gene!

What it means

A capybara approaches a handwritten thank-you note, then gets extremely close to the camera and turns away. The joke is the absurdly intimate, oversized reaction of the capybara to a wholesome message, making it suitable as a funny reaction to friendship or gratitude. The audio features animal-like, horse-like vocal sounds that heighten the animal’s comedic presence.
