It's Been a Rough Year
it's been a rough year
A tiny artificial Christmas tree sits in a large, empty stand beside a tiny wrapped gift. The joke is that the tree looks exhausted and barely holding itself up, humorously expressing how difficult the year has been. It is used as a self-deprecating reaction to a stressful or disappointing year.
