American Animation Suddenly Stopped

1998 -2004 American animation really had something going on then just stopped for some reason

A three-panel collage of dramatic scenes from early-2000s American animated films, featuring crowds, a young adventurer with a strange mechanical companion, and characters overlooking a fantastical blue landscape. The joke is that this era of American animation looked unusually ambitious and visually inventive, but seemingly disappeared for no clear reason. It is shared nostalgically when discussing underrated animated movies from the late 1990s and early 2000s.
