English Is a Terrible Programming Language
As a developer, is there a language you dislike? 🧕🏻 English. Syntactically garbage, far too many useless operators that barely anyone knows how to use anyway, so many obscure rules in the compiler that don't actually stop the compilation but raise warnings from open source grammar police. It's not typesafe and has no namespaces.
A programmer is asked which programming language they dislike and answers “English,” humorously applying software-development criticism to a natural language. The reply compares grammar rules to compiler warnings, words to operators, and the lack of type safety and namespaces to flaws in programming languages. It is used as a reaction to joke about pedantic grammar complaints or the frustrating complexity of English.
