Notice Regarding the Cat
Lewisham NHS Primary Care Trust NOTICE REGARDING THE CAT WE ARE AWARE THAT THE CAT IS FREQUENTLY IN THE HEALTH CENTRE AND WE DO ALL WE CAN TO REMOVE IT BUT IT COMES BACK EVERY TIME THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THE CAT AND IF YOU DO THEN YOU WILL DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
A Siamese cat is curled up on chairs in a healthcare centre waiting room beneath an official notice warning visitors not to touch it. The joke is that the cat keeps returning despite staff efforts to remove it, and the dramatic warning makes the harmless, comfortable cat seem dangerous. It is used as a reaction to an uninvited guest or something that stubbornly keeps coming back.
