The Four Horsemen of Modern Art

Text on the meme

The four horsemen of modern art.

What it means

Four painted portraits depict a black cat, a white goose, a green frog, and a strange dog-like creature, all dressed in elaborate historical ruffs or formal clothing. The joke is that these bizarre and awkward animal artworks are presented grandly as the four horsemen of modern art, poking fun at pretentious or inexplicable modern-art aesthetics.
