Don't Cry, I Am Just a Fish

don't cry I am just a FISH

A blurry fish swims across a pale background while the captions gradually appear: “don't cry / I am just a / FISH.” The joke is the melodramatic reassurance contrasted with the fish’s simple, emotionless identity, making it useful as an absurd reaction to someone being overly emotional. Sad-sounding music heightens the mock-tragic mood and makes the punchline funnier.
