Samuel Johnson Bookshelf Joke

THE OXFORD AUTHOR SAMUEL JOHNSON A CRITICAL EDITION OF THE MAJOR WO WORLD'S CLASSICS JAMES BOSWELL LIFE OF JOHNSON UNABRIDGED

A bookshelf displays two large books about Samuel Johnson, including James Boswell’s biography and an Oxford critical edition. The joke comes from the absurdly prominent repetition of Johnson’s portrait and name, making the shelf look intensely devoted to one author.
