Like Father, Like Son
“Baby, when you grow older, you’ll be prettier than mommy” “Thanks mom” “Son, when you grow older, you’ll go bald like me” “I know”
A red-haired mother tells her daughter that she will grow up prettier than her, and the daughter politely thanks her. A bald, bearded father tells his son that he will go bald like him, and the son replies “I know,” accepting the inevitable family resemblance. The joke contrasts a flattering maternal prediction with a blunt, resigned paternal one.
