How I Walked to School
How my parents walked to school (1967) How I walked to school (2020)
The top panel shows a person trekking through deep snow with skis and poles, joking that this is how the speaker’s parents walked to school in 1967. The bottom panel shows Ryan Reynolds’s character from Free Guy casually walking through a city destroyed by explosions, implying that modern life is so chaotic that this is how the speaker went to school in 2020. The meme is used as an exaggerated generational comparison and reaction to absurdly difficult circumstances.
