Digital Blackface CNN Screenshot

Text on the meme

"If you're White and you've posted a GIF or meme of a Black person to express a strong emotion, you may be guilty of wearing 'digital blackface,'" writes John Blake | Analysis What's 'digital blackface?' And why is it wrong when White people use it? | CNN

What it means

A CNN social-media screenshot discusses the concept of “digital blackface” and shows a Black woman reacting in an outdoor interview. The joke comes from using the serious news framing as a reaction meme, highlighting the absurdity of treating emotional GIF usage as racial wrongdoing. It is shared sarcastically when someone wants to mock overly serious discourse about internet memes.
