Tom Cruise Samurai Spirit

Text on the meme

>"Your rebellion is at an end, Saigō!" >"You may defeat me now... but the samurai spirit shall live on through Tom Cruise..." >"Who is Tom Cruise?" >"You’ll see..."

What it means

A black-and-white comic shows two stern Japanese warriors discussing the end of Saigō’s rebellion and claiming that the samurai spirit will live on through Tom Cruise. The punchline is that the historical warrior does not know who Tom Cruise is, parodying the film The Last Samurai and its famously Hollywood-centered depiction of samurai culture.
