A four-panel cartoon shows four people looking at the same tree, each imagining something different: lumber, firewood, furniture, and finally a noose. The joke is that people interpret the same situation through their own mindset, with the last panel turning unexpectedly dark. It is often shared as a reaction to differing priorities or pessimistic thinking.
