Gorbachev Loses the Soviet Union
Gorbachev Soviet Union Latvia Estonia Lithuania Georgia Ukraine
A man labeled “Gorbachev” sits in a subway car beside a sign reading “Soviet Union,” while pieces labeled Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Georgia, and Ukraine lie scattered on the floor. The joke compares the breakup of the Soviet Union to dropping and losing pieces of food, making it a historical reaction meme about dissolution and political collapse.
