Franklin Joins the IRA
A FRANKLIN STORYBOOK Franklin Joins the IRA SCHOLASTIC
A children’s-book-style cover shows Franklin the Turtle dressed in a balaclava and carrying a rifle, with his blue stuffed toy beside him. The joke comes from placing a familiar wholesome cartoon character in the absurd and threatening context of joining the IRA, making it useful as a dark, ironic reaction to someone becoming unexpectedly militant.
