Duolingo Missed Serbian Lesson

Text on the meme

You missed your last Serbian lesson Archduke Ferdinand

What it means

A vintage illustration depicts the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, with Duolingo’s green owl inserted into the scene. The caption jokes that Ferdinand’s death happened because he skipped his last Serbian lesson, turning a major historical event into a language-learning reminder. It is used as an absurd history-themed reaction to someone neglecting their language lessons.
