Theory Practice Lab
Theory is when you know everything but nothing works. Practice is when everything works but no one knows why. In our lab, theory and practice are combined: Nothing works and no one knows why.
A printed sign on a laboratory wall jokes that theory and practice have been combined because nothing works and nobody knows why. It is a self-deprecating reaction to unexplained failures, especially in science, engineering, or technical work.
